REMARKS
U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Mark Green’s Remarks Following
His Meeting with Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi

ADMINISTRATOR GREEN: We had the chance to talk about important issues, obviously
development issues, our bread and butter, but also ways that we can work towards confidence
building of all the communities so that we can help with the safe, voluntary return of the
Rohingya from Bangladesh, and create conditions that allow for that safe, voluntary return. It
was a good discussion. It was frank and open, and we look forward to following up.
From my perspective, I learned a lot from her, and I look forward to reporting back to
Secretary Pompeo as we think what the plan should be going forward, not just for Myanmar,
but for the region.
QUESTION: Did she take any issues with the way USAID, you know, works on democracy
as part of the solution to all this?
ADMINISTRATOR GREEN: No. She has a long history with USAID. I — my old
organization, IRI, has a long history. I told her about my experience as an election observer
in 2015, that’s what you heard as we were coming out. And what I said to her, very simple, I
remember on election day the soaring aspirations, the bubbling emotion, and what we all
want to do is to be able to get back to that aspiration, and to see it fulfilled.

ဟုတ္က့ေဲ သခ်ာတာေပါ့ ဖြံ႔ၿဖိဳးတိုးတက္ေရးကိစၥေတ၊ြ ေန႔စဥ္ အသက္ေမြးဝမ္းေက်ာင္းမႈအေၾကာင္းေတြ ေဆြးေႏြးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
အဲဒါေတြအျပင္ ယုံၾကည္မႈတည္ေဆာက္ေရးအတြက္ ကြ်န္ေတာ္တုိ႔ ေရွ႕ဆက္လုပ္ႏုိင္မယ့္ နည္းလမ္းေတြနဲ႔ ပတ္သက္လုိ႔လည္း
ေဆြးေႏြးခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ဒါမွလည္း ဘဂၤလာေဒ့ရွ္ႏုိင္ငံက ရုိဟင္ဂ်ာေတြ လုံၿခဳံစိတ္ခ်စြာ သူတုိ႔သေဘာဆႏၵအရ ျပန္လာႏုိင္ေရးအတြက္
က်ြန္ေတာ္တို႔ အကူအညီေပးလို႔ရႏိုင္ၿပီး လုံၿခဳံစိတ္ခ်စြာနဲ႔ သူတို႔သေဘာဆႏၵအရ ျပန္လာလ႔ရို ႏိုင္မယ ့္ အေျခအေနေတြကို
ဖန္တီးေပးႏုိင္မွာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ေတြ႔ဆုံေဆြးေႏြးမႈက တကယ္ေကာင္းပါတယ္။ ရင္းရင္းႏွီးႏွီးနဲ႔ ပြင့္ပြင့္လင္းလင္းပါပဲ။
ဒီေတ႔ဆြ ုံေဆးြ ေႏြးမႈရဲ႕ ေနာက္ဆက္တဲြေတြ ဆက္လုပ္ဖို႔ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ေနပါတယ္။
က်ြန္ေတာ့အျမင္ေျပာရရင္ သူ႔ဆီကေနေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ား ေလ့လာခဲ့ရပါတယ္။ ကြ်န္ေတာ္တ႔ ို စဥ္းစားထားသလို ေရွ႕ဘာေတ ြ
ဆက္လုပ္သင့္သလဲ ဆုိတာေတြကုိ ႏုိင္ငံျခားေရးဝန္ႀကီး ပြန္ပဲယုိးဆီကုိ ျပန္ၿပီးတင္ျပေပးဖုိ႔ ေမွ်ာ္မွန္းထားပါတယ္။
ျမန္မာႏုိင္ငံအတြက္ခ်ည္းပဲ မဟုတ္ပါဘူး၊ ေဒသတစ္ခုလုံးအတြက္ပါ။
ေမးခြန္း။ ။ USAID ကေဆာင္ရြက္ေနတ့ဲ နည္းလမ္းေတနြ ဲ႔ပတ္သက္ၿပီး သူသေဘာမတူတာေတ ြ ရိွလားခင္ဗ်။ ခင္ဗ်ားသိပါတယ္။
ဒီမုိကေရစီနဲ႔ပတ္သက္ၿပီး ေဆာင္ရြက္ေနတာဟာ ဒီဟာေတြအားလုံးကုိ ေျဖရွင္းဖုိ႔ နည္းလမ္းေတြထဲက အစိတ္အပုိင္းတစ္ခုဆုိတာ။
အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္ေရးမွဴးဂရင္း။ ။ မရွိပါဘူး။ သူ႔မွာ USAID နဲ႔တ္သက္ၿပီး ရွည္လ်ားတဲ့သမုိင္းေၾကာင္းတခုရွိပါတယ္။
က်ြန္ေတာ္အရင္လုပ္ခဲ့တဲ့ IRI မွာလည္း ရွည္လ်ားတ့သဲ မိုင္းေၾကာင္းတစ္ခုရိွပါတယ္။ ၂၀၁၅ တုန္းက ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲ ေစာင့္ၾကည့္သူ
တစ္ေယာက္အေနနဲ႔ ကြ်န္ေတာ္ရဲ႕အေတ႔အြ ႀကဳံေတကြ ိုလည္း သူ႔ကိုေျပာျပခဲ့ပါေသးတယ္။ ဒါေတြဟာ ခင္ဗ်ားၾကားခဲ့တဲ့အတိုင္းပါပဲ။
ကြ်န္ေတာ္သူ႔ကုိ ေျပာခဲ့တာေတြက အင္မတန္ရုိးရွင္းပါတယ္။ ေရြးေကာက္ပြဲေန႔တုန္းက ျဖစ္ေပၚခဲ့တဲ့ အစြမ္းကုန္ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ်က္ေတြ၊
