U.S. Ambassador Leads Trade Delegation to Mandalay

 

Mandalay – U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel led a business delegation with thirteen companies from the United States and the region to Mandalay together with the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (AMCHAM) and the U.S. Commercial Service.  The delegation is exploring opportunities for expanded trade and to promote business ties to the Mandalay region.

During the two day U.S. Business Mission to Mandalay, twenty business delegates met with officials from the Mandalay regional government and counterparts from the Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI)and participated in a business showcase to network with Mandalay-area businesses.

Delivering the opening remarks at the U.S. Business Showcase, Ambassador Marciel said “The United States government is committed to promoting responsible business investment and trade that benefits the people of Myanmar.”

Participants in the U.S. Business Mission to Mandalay include Astrophysics, CB Bank, Coca-Cola Limited, Colliers International Myanmar, Global Technology Group, Han Golf Masters, KBZ Bank, Myan Shwe Pyi Tractors (MSP CAT), PanAust Services (Myanmar), Tapout Fitness, Thanlwin Legal, United Franchise Group and Vriens & Partners.

The U.S. Business Showcase helped connect American companies with Mandalay area businesses.  The U.S. Government opened the American Business Corner in Mandalay – the first of its kind in ASEAN – in March 2019, to help American companies to find business opportunities and to help increase commercial ties between the United States and Myanmar.

About the Chamber:

The American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar was established on October 31, 2013. To date, more than 185 companies employing over 20,000 Myanmar nationals have joined the Chamber. These companies represent a diverse collection of industries and nationalities, with a common goal to expand American business and promote the highest business standards in Myanmar. The mission of AMCHAM Myanmar is to promote and connect American business in Myanmar by encouraging local partnerships and upholding the highest business standards.
