New U.S. Ambassador Presents Credentials to President U Win Myint

 

Yangon — U.S. Ambassador Thomas Vajda presented his credentials to President U Win Myint at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw today.  

Ambassador Vajda underscored the United States’ commitment to work with the government and people of Myanmar in pursuit of democracy, peace, and prosperity throughout the country. “A great deal has changed in Myanmar in recent years, but our commitment to work together for a better future remains the same,” Ambassador Vajda said. “I look forward to building on the longstanding ties and friendship between the people of the United States and Myanmar in the years ahead.”

During his visit to Nay Pyi Taw, Ambassador Vajda will also meet with other senior Myanmar government officials to strengthen the U.S.-Myanmar relationship.  

Ambassador Vajda previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar from 2008 to 2011. He is joined by his spouse, Amy Sebes, and one of their two children.
