15 June 2020
The Burmese government has extended COVID-19-related restrictions through June 30. These restrictions include a ban on international commercial flights, the e-visa and visa-on-arrival programs, restrictions on large gatherings of people, lockdowns of certain neighborhoods, mandatory quarantines, nightly curfew, and movement restrictions throughout the country.
Restrictions and enforcement differ widely across Burma. Criminal penalties exist and are being applied for violating COVID-19-related restrictions. You should contact your ward or township administrator for more details on local restrictions. Your hotel manager or landlord can help you contact your ward or township administrator.
For U.S. citizens wishing to depart Burma and return to the U.S., Myanmar Airways International (MAI) and Korean Air continue to operate a limited number of relief flights from Yangon to Seoul. Please check directly with the airlines on flight availability.
