Message for U.S. Citizens: Road Closures for Martyr’s Day Celebration, July 19, 2022

EVENT: The following roads will be closed for Martyr’s Day Celebrations in Yangon.  Please avoid the areas due to increased potential of attacks and violent responses by Security forces.  The road closures will be from 4:00 a.m. until the events are finished (probably until 1200 p.m.)

  1. West Shwe Gon Dine Road (from Old Yaydarshay Road to U Wisara Road)
  2. Dhamazedi Road (from Uwisara-Dhamazedi traffic to Inya-Dhamazedi traffic)
  3. Arzani Road (from U Htaung Bo Road to West Shwe Gon Dine Road)
  4. Thway Say Kan Street on Shwe Dagon Pagoda Northern Gate

There will also be other road closures in the downtown area from 4:00 a.m. until possibly 9:00 a.m. for a flag-raising event at the at Secretariat Office on July 19.

  1. Thein Phyu Road (from Bogyoke traffic to Maha Bandoola traffic)
  2. Anawrahta Road (from Bo Myat Tun traffic to Bo Aung Kyaw traffic)
  3. Maha Bandoola Road (from Pansodan traffic to Then Phyu traffic)
  4. Bo Aung Kyaw Road (from Merchant Road traffic to Bo Gyoke Road traffic)
