The Burmese government has extended COVID-19-related restrictions related to compulsory use of face masks, temporary closures of non-essential businesses, the 12:00 A.M. – 4:00 A.M. curfew, and gatherings of people through August 15. The Covid-19 central committee increased the permitted size from four people to 14 people, and the quarantine for international arrivals, ban on international commercial flights, and suspension of visa-on-arrival and eVisa programs through August 31.
For U.S. citizens seeking to depart Burma, Myanmar Airways International (MAI) and Korean Air continue to operate a limited number of relief flights from Yangon to Seoul. All Nippon Airline (ANA) also operates a limited number of relief flights from Yangon to Tokyo. Please check directly with the airlines on flight availability.
If you have a personal or business emergency and need to enter Burma, you should contact your nearest Burmese Embassy for further information.
