Message for U.S. Citizens: Consular Section Drop-Box to Close

2 November 2018

THE EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN RANGOON IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE AMERICAN LIAISON NETWORK AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO U.S. CITIZENS IN BURMA. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD.

Starting November 5, 2018 the consular drop-box at the U.S. Embassy will close.  Most U.S. citizens seeking routine consular services will not be affected by this change.

If U.S. citizens are applying for consular services at the Embassy and are lacking necessary documents, such as a valid passport photo, they can return to the Embassy on Monday and Wednesday from 1:30-3pm to drop off the documents inside the Consular Section.  Alternatively, you can mail documents to us at:

U.S. Embassy – Consular Section
110 University Ave
Yangon, Myanmar

The main benefit of removing the drop-box is to provide better service to applicants seeking U.S. visas. As of November 5, 2018, the Consular Section will no longer require visa applicants to submit supporting documentation one week prior to their visa appointment.
