Message for U.S. Citizens: Calling New Citizen Liaison Volunteers!

02 August 2018

THE EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN RANGOON IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE EMBASSY WARDEN SYSTEM AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO U.S. CITIZENS IN BURMA. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD.

The U.S. Embassy is recruiting Citizen Liaison Volunteers (CLVs) to participate in the American Liaison Network.  Formerly known as the “Consular Warden Program,” the American Liaison Network is a key component of the U.S. Embassy’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of U.S. citizens in Burma.

U.S. Embassies around the world rely heavily on these networks to share information with and render aid to U.S. citizens in need. As a CLV, you would have an important role in helping us keep the U.S. citizen community in Burma informed and, in extraordinary circumstances, helping us deliver emergency services to U.S. citizens in need.  This unpaid volunteer program emphasizes two-way communication during both emergencies and non-crisis periods.

We are looking to recruit new Citizen Liaison Volunteers from all locations in Burma, except Rangoon, with a special focus on individuals who reside in or frequently travel to the following areas: Bagan, Inle Lake, Mandalay, Lashio, coastal areas (Ngapali, Ngwesaung, Mawlamyine, etc.), and border crossing areas (Myawaddy, Tachileik, Kawthaung, etc.).

Please contact ACSRangoon@state.gov if you are interested in becoming a Citizen Liaison Volunteer or learning more about the requirements of the program.
