Health Alert

THE EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN RANGOON IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE AMERICAN LIAISON NETWORK AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO U.S. CITIZENS IN BURMA. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD.          January 21, 2022

The Embassy encourages all Americans in Burma to follow COVID-19 guidelines established by the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC).  These include including COVID-19 vaccines, which are effective at helping protect against severe disease and death from the virus that causes COVID-19, including known variants currently circulating.  Please visit the CDC webpage for more information about COVID-19 vaccines: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/keythingstoknow.html?s_cid=10493:cdc%20covid%20vaccine:sem.ga:p:RG:GM:gen:PTN:FY21.

The Embassy urges any Americans who are not yet vaccinated to do so at the earliest opportunity.   Several local private clinics are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations to the public, including booster shots.  American citizens should contact private hospitals directly to book their vaccinations.  For more information about local COVID-19 conditions and testing, please visit our website: https://mm.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/4.

Please note that the Department of State issued a Level-4 Travel Advisory for Burma, the highest level issued by the Department of State.  It advises U.S. citizens not to travel to Burma or to leave as soon as possible if it is safe to do so.  As a result of these conditions, if you experience an emergency, the U.S. Embassy has a very limited ability to provide assistance.
