Fulbright Specialists

The Fulbright Specialist Program is a unique opportunity for institutions in Myanmar to host a U.S. academic or established professional to collaborate on projects in a wide range of fields. The program aims to build capacity and promote long-lasting linkages between Myanmar and the United States.

Specialist Programs: Through short-term collaborative projects, specialists can conduct activities which may include, but are not limited to: Delivering a seminar or workshop; Consulting on faculty or workforce development; Developing academic or training curricula and materials; or Conducting needs assessments or evaluations.

Timing: Institutions can apply to host a Specialist for four to six weeks between January and September.

Funding: International travel costs and honorarium for the Specialist are funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Myanmar institutions should note costs they can cover such as lodging, local transportation, meals, etc. The U.S. Embassy can cover some in-country costs if necessary on a case-by-case basis.

Proposal Submission: Organizations interested in hosting a Fulbright Specialist should submit requests using the project proposal form (Word 3MB). Please send completed forms to the U.S. Embassy at RangoonUSECA@state.gov. Please submit your proposal one time only. We will notify you if your proposal is selected.
