Demonstration Alert – U. S. Embassy Rangoon, Burma (12 October 2018)
Location: Yangon, Burma
Event: Two demonstrations in support of the Myanmar military are planned for Sunday, October 14. Both demonstrations are expected to be peaceful. Traffic disruptions are expected. U.S. Embassy staff members are advised to avoid the areas.
The first demonstration will take place at the baseball grounds of Ward 20, Shwe Pauk Kan town in North Okkalapa Township between 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.
The second demonstration will start at 1:00 P.M. in the vicinity of Kabar Aye Pagoda Road, Bahan Township and will march south to Maha Bandula Park, concluding at 6:00 P.M.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid these demonstrations and above-mentioned areas during this time.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Notify friends and family of your safety.
